What Type Of Water Does A Mosquito Need To Breed?

Mosquito Breeding

View Full Infographic

Mosquitoes need warm temperatures to thrive while their eggs need still, stagnant water in order to hatch. Unhatched eggs can last for extended periods if there is no water source available. This is one of the reasons why it is so important to address conditions around your home to prevent an infestation. Water that pools and collects around items such as empty pots and containers, garbage cans, and in clogged gutters can provide the ideal environment for breeding. Microorganisms collect in this type of water, which mosquitoes feed on as they become adults. This type of water is also a common source for much of the bacteria and germs mosquitoes are known to carry.
